Lavartha McGill French, age 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 20, 2009 to be reunited with the Lord and her beloved daughter Carole McGill Bullen and her beloved son Larry McGill after a courageous two year battle with cancer.
Lavartha was born on May 9, 1923 and is a native of New Holland, GA. She spent the majority of her adult life in Miami, FL and later in Hollywood, FL . She was an avid Bingo player and very active in the Red Hatters of Hollywood and the Senior Center in Canton, GA.; She touched the lives of hundreds of people and was an expert dietician who cooked hundreds of gourmet holiday meals for her family and extended family over a 65 year period.
Lavartha is the loving mother of Phyllis McGill Franklyn of Woodstock, GA and Becky McGill Bradley of Dillard, GA and the loving Mother in Law of James J. Franklyn and James T. Bradley. She is survived by five beautiful grandchildren and their families: Susan & Mark Fearon and their son Chase of Thousand Oaks, CA. Stacey & Kirk McKinney and their daughters Ellie and Sami of Hendersonville, NC., Mitchell & Carmen Lysinger and their son Martin and daughter Sara of Quito, Ecuador, Kimberly & John Heller and their daughters Mackenzie, Madison and Emma of Tampa, FL and Kelly & Lee Napier and their daughters Rebecca and Jessica of Marietta, GA. Lavartha is also survived by her beloved sister Opal Peeples of New Holland, Ga, her beloved brother Marshall Stephens of Dillard, GA and her beloved sister in law Lorraine Stephens of Oak Ridge, TN.
