Annie Mae McEntire Jenkins

Annie Mae McEntire Jenkins, age 102 of Cornelia, passed away Monday, October 26, 2009, at the Oaks at Scenic View.

Born in Little Mountain, South Carolina on January 13, 1907, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Norris and Florence Boland McEntire. Mrs. Jenkins was retired from the textile industry and was a member of Epting Memorial United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Frederick Jenkins and numerous brothers and sisters.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Jane & Richard Whitaker of Cornelia, GA; brother, Julian Norris McEntire of Kershaw, SC; sister, Frances Bartley of Newberry, SC; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at Epting United Methodist Church, 1401 Milligan Street, Newberry, SC 29108, with Rev. David Inman officiating. Interment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Jenkins will lie in state at the church from noon until the service hour on Wednesday.
