Henry Carr Belew

Henry Carr Belew, 94, of Clayton, died December 5, 2009, at his home. Mr. Belew was born in Johnson City, Tennessee December 29, 1914 to William Withers Belew and Kate Sue Carr Belew, the second of four brothers.

Mr. Belew grew up in Johnson City, where after high school he attended East Tennessee State Teachers College (ETSU) and earned a four year teaching degree. He taught history and geography for several years and then made his career in the retail profession. After a number of years with J.C. Penny, he accepted a position with Gallant Belk Department Store in Anderson, SC. He was named manager of the Clayton Belkâ
