Mr. Raymond Morlock

Obituary Date: Sunday, January 10, 2010
Raymond Line Morlock passed away on January 10, 2010, following as extended illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Irene Line Morlock. He is survived by his wife of 45 years,Sarah Tanner Morlock, daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Mark Dowdy, grandchildren Graham and Macy Dowdy, brothers-in-law and wives, Gene and Martha Tanner, Doug and Cynthia Tanner, James and Martha Tanner, Larry and Ann Tanner, sister-in-law and husband, Nell and Don Parks, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Ray was born February 27, 1935 in Albion Michigan. He held degrees from Manchester College, the University of Georgia, Gainesville College, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a lifelong learner and avid reader. He was Director of Juvenile Rehabilitation for cities in Florida and Kentucky, and served as the first Director of the Gainesville Diversion Center. He worked for a time as an auditor and accountant with Days Inn and the Internal Revenue Service. He retired as a counselor from East Hall High School, where he touched the lived of students for over 20 years. Even in the latter stages of his illness, he still expressed a desire to "make a contribution" to his community and his family. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gainesville, GA, where he especially loved attending Wednesday night suppers and Bible Study.

The family wishes to thank the many care givers and health care professionals who assisted Ray and the family in the last few months of his life, including Tugaloo Home Health, New Horizons North, and Peachtree Christian Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday January 13, 2010 in the First Baptist Church chapel on Green Street. Rev. Dr. Bill Coates, Rev. Elizabeth Burnette and Rev. Mark Dowdy will officiate. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Tuesday January 12, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Our Faith Our Future/ Children's Wing, First Baptist Church, 751 Green Street, Gainesville, Georgia 30501.
