Ruby Bonds Simmons

Ruby Bonds Simmons, age 78, of Alto, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mrs. Simmons was born on June 8, 1931, in Banks County, to the late Warren and Maggie Brock Bonds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Simmons, her grandchildren, Mark Abernathy and Melissa Mobley, her sister, Grace Davidson, and her brothers, Charlie Bonds, Myles Bonds, and J. B. Bonds. Mrs. Simmons was a member of the Yonah Congregational Holiness Church and was retired from Global Tech.

Survivors include her daughter; Elaine Sullens, Alto; her daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Jimmy Turner, Alto; Karen and Clifford Spry, Cornelia; her sisters, Cara Dodd, Alto; Ruth Acery, Cornelia; Bonnie Bagwell, Buford; 5 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 14, 2010 at the Yonah Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. John Umberhant, Rev. Howard Payne, and Rev. Delmar Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, from 2:00 until 4:00 pm and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2010.
