George Boerner

George Boerner, 91, of Dawsonville died Thursday, February 11, 2010 at his residence following a period of declining health.

Born March 1, 1918 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to the late George and Rose Boerner, he had lived in Dawson County for the past 42 years, having moved from Atlanta. Mr. Boerner was a retired Captain with Delta Airlines with over 25 years of service. After his retirement he enjoyed flying his ultralite plane, spending time on the lake and athletics. He celebrated his 90th birthday by flying a glider and hanggliding. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Frances Boerner, and brothers, Robert Boerner and Gib Boerner.

Surviving are his children, Keith and Ann Boerner, Ellijay, Lee and Jay Kelly, Dawsonville, Janet and Ron Mendola, Atlanta; sisters, Irene Lourigan, Greenville, SC, Joan Lyman, San Antonio, TX; brother, Richard Boerner, San Antonio, TX; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Sunday February 14, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will assemble at the cemetery.
