Joel Martin Manus

Joel Martin Manus, age 70 of Alto, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2010, at his residence following an extended illness.

Born in Jackson County on February 08, 1940, he was the son of the late Nellie Martin Parker. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills with 40 plus of service and was a member of Alto Congregational Holiness Church. He served our country proudly in the United States Army and he enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Manus and brother, Bobby Manus.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law, Scott & Roxanne Manus of Alto and Doug & Debra Manus of Clarkesville; sister, Patty Tomlin of Cornelia; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral services are 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Alto Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Leon Brown and Rev. Tim Beasley officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Scott Ledbetter officiating and full military honors provided by the Grant Reeves VFW Post #7720, Habersham County American Legion Post #84 and Rabun County D.A.V. Chapter #15. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Monday.
