Fred Kesler

Fred Kesler, 84, of Gainesville died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health. Born in Banks County on May 16, 1925, he was the son of the late Luther and Lucey Martin Kesler. He had lived most of his life in Hall County and was retired from Wallace Asphalt. Mr. Kesler served in the Army in WWII in the 172nd Infantry Regiment. He was a member of Chicopee United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Irene Mason Kesler and five brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Boring of Gainesville, Charlotte and Dennis Pirkle of Oakwood, Tonya and Michael Newsom of Flowery Branch; ex-wife, Nell Ussery of Dublin; grandchildren and spouses, Melessa and Jimmy Wallace of Gainesville, Angela and Bryan Pirkle-Wilson of Griffin, Gena and Anthony Pirkle-Cato, Jr. of Flowery Branch, Fredrick Thomas Newsom of Flowery Branch; great-grandchildren Mikayla Irene Hall, Nicholas Cato, Brittony Wilson and Christina Wilson; sisters, Francine Jordan of Maysville, Reba Mason of Douglasville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010 in the chapel of Little & Davenport Funeral Home. The Rev. Eddie Burt and Rev. Paige Bennett will officiate. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home Thursday, April 29, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
