Estelle Patton Odell

Estelle Patton Odell passed away May 6, 2010 at the age of 95. She was loved deeply by her community, church and family.

She was a lifelong member of Oakwood United Methodist Church where she was very active in youth work, taught Sunday school and loved to sing in the choir and play the piano. She was retired from Georgia Poultry Laboratory in Oakwood.

She is preceded in death by her parents Hester Lee and Charlie Patton, her husband, Lloyd Odell, brother Dewey Patton, sisters, Delphia Frazier, Minnie Lee Tanner and Lois Barefield.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Doyle Odell of Gainesville, Ron Odell and Jean Simmons of Marietta; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Larry Wallis of Winder, Lana Christiansen of Oakwood, a number of grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren and step great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Peachtree Plantation for all their kindness and love given to their mom during her three and a half year stay. Special thanks also to the caregivers Betty Freeman and Sylvia Cordell for taking wonderful care of their mom, along with the hospice group who gave extra special care to their mom.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2010 at Oakwood United Methodist Church. The Rev. Glenn Parrish will officiate. Mrs. Odell will lie in state at the church from 2:00 p.m. until service time. The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home on Saturday, May 8, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and again from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
