Mary L. Smith Jordan

Obituary Date: Monday, May 17, 2010
Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Thursday May 20, 2010 at Central Baptist Church for Mary L. Smith Jordan, of Gainesville. Rev. Earl Pirkle and Rev. W.E. Peeples officiating.

Burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will recieve friends from 11:00am to 2:00pm Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Jordan passed away Monday May 17, 2010.

She was born in Hall County on August 24, 1920 and was the daughter of the late Martin Vanburen & Louella Wilson Smith . Mrs Jordan was a stay at home mom until the passing of her husband Willie C. Jordan, in 1961. She then went to work and spent 25 years at Leese- Neville Company . Upon retirement she traveled extensively, visiting 49 states and spent 3 weeks touring the Holy Land. She was a member of several Travel Groups. Mary was a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church where she was a Primary Sunday School Teacher and member of W.M.U. She will be remembered as a strong and brave woman and a wonderful mother. She was also preceded in death by a brother A. James Smith and a sister Merita Smith Carver. Survivors include Daughter, Shirley Marie Jordan of Stone Mountain, Ga. Daughters And Sons-in-law, Dolores Jordan & John C. Crowe, Jr. of Dahlonega, Ga. Diane Jordan & Robert E. Rugg of Canton, Ga.Grandchildren Jason & Suzanne Jarrard of Gainesville, Mary Shileah Jarrard of Duluth, Ga., Josh & Kari Rugg and Rebecca & Jay Fryman of Bay area, California , 7 Great Grandchildren, a number of Nieces and Nephews including a special Nephew and Niece Daniel & Darlene Carver of Cornelia, Ga.
