Grace Lucille Chambers Darnell

Grace Lucille Chambers Darnell, age 91 of Cornelia, passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010, at a private nursing facility following an extended illness.

Born in Habersham County, Georgia on October 16, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Minnie Skelton Chambers. Mrs. Darnell retired from Carwood Manufacturing and was a member of Fairfield Baptist Church. Mrs. Darnell enjoyed crocheting and gardening. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Darnell; daughter, Jean Brewer; son, Leon Darnell; brother, John Henry Chambers; grandson, Raymond Wood; great granddaughter, Virginia Grace Poole.

Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Lucille & Bill Wood of Demorest and Hazel & Comer Ledford of Gainesville; sisters, Hallie Warwick of Cleveland, Lois Hogan of Cleveland, Renora Hallford of Demorest, Betty Caudell of Cleveland and Jimmie Jenkins of Clarkesville; brothers, Clyde Chambers of Cleveland and Emory Chambers of Demorest; six grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Funeral services are 11:00 am Tuesday, June 01, 2010, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Rev. Roy Lee Mitchell and Rev. Tim Poole officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Monday.
