Roger Phillip Estler

Roger Phillip Estler, 74, a Dover, NJ native, recently passed away at his home in Cumming, GA. The son of the late Howard and Mary Estler, he was also predeceased by his brothers, Donald and Howard Estler.

Roger attended Dover Public Schools and was captain of the high school's first undefeated football team in 1954. He attended Lafayette College in Easton, PA on a football scholarship and graduated with a degree in biology.

He served as an officer in the US Marine Corps. After 5 years, with one year in Vietnam, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. Roger received numerous medals including 14 air medals. The Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Oak Leaf Cluster was awarded to him by the South Vietnamese government. After his military service he worked for Hercules, Inc as a sales engineer. He also worked for Gould, Inc as a District Manager; KW Battery as a Regional Manager; and the Prudential as a registered rep. He opened his own financial services office in 1990 and retired in 1996.

Roger and his wife moved to Costa Rica in 1999 where his favorite pastimes were fishing and cruising his boat, Shalimar. The past few years were spent at his home in Cumming, addressing health issues.
