Pat McCurry

Mrs. Pat McCurry, a longtime Gainesville resident passed away September 25, 2010. Pat was born on the island of Lemnos, Greece and arrived with her parents Anastasias Rigas and Marianthi Coptsias, through Ellis Island in 1929.

Pat was raised in Americus, Georgia along with her sister Jennie Coptsias Hancock and brother Rigas Coptsias. She met her husband, Jim McCurry ,as a student at the University of Georgia. Pat and Jim made their home in Gainesville, Georgia where they were active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include her sister Jennie and brother and sister-in-law, Rigas and Sandra. Other survivors include Steve and Lyanne Hancock, Don and Teresa Hancock, Ken and Margie Coptsias, Mark and Leslie Coptsias and Jim Coptsias.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband Jim McCurry and brother-in-law, Cleveland Hancock.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday September 27, 2010, at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery in Clarkesville, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the Little & Davenport Funeral Home in Gainesville on Sunday September 26, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Pat and Jim.
