Nell Chambers Allan, age 86 of Gainesville, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of First Baptist Church, Gainesville with a private burial prior to the service. Reverend Bruce Fields will officiate.

Mrs. Allan was born April 2, 1924 in Lula, Georgia to the late W. L. Chambers and Mary Free Chambers. She retired from WDUN Radio Station as a Sales Representative with over 40 years of service. Nell was a member of First Baptist Church in Gainesville. Mrs. Allan is preceded in death by her son David Thompson Allan, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.

Mrs. Allan is survived by her daughters, Marie Allan Breed of Gainesville and Teresa Allan Shumate of Flowery Branch, son & daughter-in-law, James C. Jr. & Starr Allan of Holly Springs, granddaughters, Tracy Allan Dionne of Cumming, Tiffany Breed Hanes of Gainesville, Amy Allan Defoor of San Francisco, California, Heather Shumate Wetmore of Washington, DC and Katy Shumate of Flowery Branch, grandson, James C. Allan, III of Holly Springs, Georgia, step-grandsons, Daniel Lee Bailey of Loganville and David H. Bailey of Lawrenceville, step-granddaughter, Laurinda S. Holgate of Lawrenceville, 10 great-grandchildren and 9 step-great-grandchildren.
