Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mr. Thomas Charles "Tom"
Wilbanks, age 81, of Jefferson, who passed away on Monday, January 3,
2011. Mr. Wilbanks was born on November 10, 1929 in Oglethorpe County,
GA, a son to the late Charles Isaac Wilbanks and the late Effie
Cornelia Finch Wilbanks. Mr. Wilbanks was a retired Master Chief in
the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII and was also a retired

Personnel Manager with Baker and Taylor Company. Mr. Wilbanks was a
member and a Deacon Emeritus of the First Baptist Church of Jefferson,
a former Sunday School Teacher for the Baraca Sunday School Class, and
a member of the Jefferson Lions Club. His sisters, Patricia and Jackie
and brother, Billy, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Hardy Wilbanks,
Jefferson, son and daughter in law, Damon and Janice Wilbanks,
Jefferson, daughter and son in law, Kelli and Jeff Potts, Jefferson,
grandchildren, Shawn and Casey McNally, Tyler and Carla Truelove, Kyle
and Chelsey Potts, Kory Potts, 3 great grandchildren, Kade McNally,
Gracie and Ty Truelove, sister in law, Cathryn Wilbanks Phillips,
Jefferson.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at 4pm in
the First Baptist Church of Jefferson with Dr. Cary Hilliard
officiating. The body will lie in state Wednesday from 3:30pm -4pm in
the church. The burial will follow in the Woodbine Cemetery with Doug
Thurmond, Phil Thurmond, Fred Gurley, Ryan Gurley, Steven Hix and
Keith Ariail honored as pallbearers. The Baraca Sunday School Class
will serve as honorary pallbearers. The visitation will held on
Tuesday evening from 4-6pm at the funeral home.
