Frances Lillian Sklenka

Obituary Date: Tuesday, January 4, 2011
As a young girl, Frances Lillian Sklenka arrived in America with her mother- the year was 1907. They had no way of finding her father that had arrived before them. As they wandered the streets of Boston, they recognized a language they could speak and questioned a gentleman speaking German. Fortunately he recognized her father's name and reunited their small family. The eldest of twelve children, Frances cared for all of her brothers and sisters. She is not survived by any of them.

Frances loved life, and she loved to learn. She educated herself way beyond her eighth grade schooling. She learned proper etiquette from helping care for a family at their home. There were stories about working at the candy store, but her flair for fashion and drama seemed to drive her. She sewed anything and everything that could handle a needle and thread. At 105, Frances witnessed changes in life that many of us could only imagine
