Clayton Chester

Clayton Chester, 80, of Dawsonville passed away Monday January 31, 2011 at Grandview Health Care Center following a period of declining health.

Born February 8, 1930 to the late Fate and Rachael Chester, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. Mr. Chester was a retired equipment operator with Temple Inland where he had over 40 years of service without ever missing a day of work. He was a former deacon of New Hope Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by his wife, Norma Lee Chester, seven brothers and a sister.

Surviving are his children, Jimmy and Annie Sue Chester, Dawsonville, Janie and Jerry Brown, Dawsonville, Johnny and Snooky Chester, Dahlonega, Keith and Tammy Chester, Dawsonville, Michael and Delain Chester, Dawsonville; brother, Loy Chester, Dahlonega; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday February 3, 2011 at 2 o'clock at New Hope Baptist Church. Rev. Harold Byess will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and all day Wednesday at the funeral home.
