Robert Swayne Mason

Robert Swayne Mason, age 80, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at Stephens County Hospital, following an extended illness.

Mr. Mason was born in Banks County, Georgia on November 21, 1930, to the late John H. and Carrie Beck Mason.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, John Harold Mason, Roger Mason, and George Mason and sisters, Frances Mason and May Evelyn Baldwin.

Mr. Mason was a United States Army veteran having proudly served as a medic in a M.A.S.H. Unit, during the Korean Conflict.

He was in management with the Orbit Manufacturing Company and retired from the Fieldale Corporation. Mr. Mason was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Demmie Lucille Shirley Mason, Mt. Airy, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Kenneth and Susan Mason, Cumming, GA; sisters, Helen Harrison, Gainesville, GA and Virginia Hood, Sautee, GA; and brother, Nelson Mason, Baldwin, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia with Mr. Larry Whitfield officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the National Guard.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
