Laura Fischer Barnard

Obituary Date: Sunday, January 30, 2011
Mrs. Laura Fischer Barnard, age 86 of Gainesville, GA, formerly of Albany, GA, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, February 05, 2011 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany, GA.

Mrs. Barnard was born in White Bear Lake, MN and was the daughter of the late Fred Fischer and Bertha Lehmann Fischer. She had lived for many years in the Albany, GA area but in the past five years was a resident of Smokey Springs Retirement Community, in Gainesville, where she actively participated in all of the recreational activities with her many friends. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville and previously at Covenant Presbyterian in Albany, GA. She was retired from the United States Postal Service She enjoyed sewing, knitting and in earlier years enjoyed worldwide travel with her late husband, Howard.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard Barnard, Jr.; sisters, Edna and Margaret; and brothers, Clifford and Harold.

Mrs. Barnard is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pixie and David Gray, Gainesville, GA; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Doty and J.D. Dunn, Statesboro, GA; stepson and daughter-in-law, Howard and Connie Barnard, Myrtle Beach, SC; brother, Melvyn Fischer, White Bear Lake, MN and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church
