John "Bill" Evans

John "Bill" Evans, age 72, of Flowery Branch, GA passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness.

Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Memorial Park South Cemetery. Reverend Phil Carpenter will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday, February 14, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Evans was the son of the late Joe and Minnie Evans. Mr. Evans was born on April 4, 1938 and was a lifelong resident of Hall County, where he graduated from Oakwood High School class of 1956. He was also a past Hall County Commissioner and was Owner/ Operator of Evans Wrecker Service. At the time of death, Mr. Evans was serving on the Hall County Zoning Committee. Bill was also a past member of the South Hall Kiwanis Club and also the South Hall Lions Club. One of his pleasures in life was telling stories at the "round table" at Curt's Restaurant where he also enjoyed talking of auto racing and giving his opinion on local politics. Bill's greatest loves in life were his grandchildren who he adored dearly. Mr. Evans was a member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his brother, V.J. Evans, sisters, Blanche Evans Kenny, Gladys Evans Forrester, and Eunice Evans Stephens.

Mr. Evan is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Diane Garner Evans of Flowery Branch, son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Debbie Evans of Flowery Branch, granddaughter, Christin Evans, grandson, Cam Evans, brother, Robert "Peanut" Evans of Flowery Branch, brother-in-law and wife, Minor and Kathy Garner of Gainesville, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert Jack and Ethel Garner of Dawsonville, best buddy his little dog, "little man", several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please make contribution to the Ronnie Green Heart Center, 743 Spring Street, Gainesville, GA 30501.
