Marie Disharoon

Marie Disharoon, 73, of Dawsonville passed away Monday February 14, 2011 at Chestatee Regional Hospital following a period of declining health.

Born April 22, 1937 to the late Hoyt and Alice Disharoon, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. For many years she helped her parents operate a poultry farm and she possessed a passion for collecting and documenting Dawson County history. Marie was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Surviving are her sister, Elvie Mooney, Dahlonega; brothers, Curtis Disharoon, Dawsonville, Marcus Disharoon, Dawsonville; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Thursday February 17, 2011 at 2 o'clock at Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. Steven Davis will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
