Alice Lanell Zurovec McNeal

Alice Lanell Zurovec McNeal, age 72, died September 6, 2010.

She was born December 2, 1937, in San Antonio, Texas, to Charles Cyril and Gladys Kelley Zurovec. She was retired but had worked in Gainesville at Mansfield Oil Co., Olympic Oil Co., and Gress/Koch Foods among other places. She resided in Buford for the last several years. Lanell was a long-time parishioner of St. Michael Catholic Church in Gainesville and a current parishioner of Prince Of Peace Catholic Church in Flowery Branch. She was involved with the St. Vincent De Paul Society and found her greatest joy in helping others.

Mrs. McNeal is survived by her children and their spouses - Patti and Dan Lewis; Sgt. Norman Kelley McNeal, US Army, and Lynn McNeal. Captain Michael Kenny McNeal, US Marine Corp, and Christal McNeal; Sharon and Randy Barrett; and her ex-husband John "Mac" McNeal.
Her grandchildren are Chris, Jacob, Avery, Matt, Lauren, Keeley, Kaylyn, Courtney, Kyla, Riley, McKenna, Regan, Hudson, Tristan, and Ryland.
Her surviving relatives include Colette Behme, Joyce Zurovec, Marleen Campbell, David Zurovec, Connie Knight, Pat Zurovec, Sharron Keebaugh, their spouses and children.

She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings John, Charles, Gary, Mike, Tommy, and Jerry Zurovec.

Special thanks go to her friends Ella Tymchuk, Shirley Gassner, and Clare Van Sant, as well as Debbie Garcia (of the NEGMC Hospice program) for their help during her illness.

In keeping with her life of service, Mrs. McNeal's body was donated to the Medical College of Georgia. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 10:00 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Gainesville. The Reverend Father David McGuinness will preside.
