Charles Henry Hawkins, Sr.

CHARLES HENRY HAWKINS, SR., age 94, passed away due to natural causes on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Habersham Home, Demorest, GA.

He was born on September 25, 1916, in Covington, TN, to Henry L. Hawkins and Pearl Cross Hawkins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, the former Mary Ruth Walker, his daughter, Patricia Ann Hawkins King, and sisters, Blanche Hawkins Bringle and Doris Hawkins Downing. Mr. Hawkins had a long career in sales primarily of office machines, winning numerous awards. He served in the Army Air Corps during the second world war, being stationed in China and India. Mr. Hawkins lived in Atlanta for 14 years before moving to Coral Gables, Florida, and eventually, back to Georgia.

He is survived by his son, Charles H. Hawkins, Jr., son-in-law, Gregory A. King, granddaughter, Mary Catherine King Buckland, grandson, Michael G. King, and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Owen Buckland.

Funeral services and interment will be held at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Talbott, TN, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, with family visitation preceding the service at 1:00 p.m.
