Pauline Lovell Wilson

Pauline Angeline Lovell Wilson moved on to a new place of peace and love on April 12, 2011. She died at Life Care Center of Centerville in Centerville, Tenn. after an extended illness.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Jesse Marvin; a daughter Patsy Lee; parents Albert Frank and Araunah Lovell; brothers Chester, Porter, John B., Buman, Cecil, and Robert (Bob) Lovell; and sister, Betty L. Campbell of Social Circle, Ga.

She leaves behind a loving daughter Lynda Van Devender and her husband, the Rev. Mr. Charles Van Devender of Florence, Alabama; grandsons Charles III (Candice) of Los Angeles, CA; Ladd (Michel) of Charlotte, NC; Drew (Gina) of Sheffield, AL; and Bryan (Elizabeth) of Sheffield, AL. In addition, she leaves 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Lamar Lovell (Patsy) Hickory, NC and Jesse (Joann) Gainesville, GA.; 2 sisters Catherine Hunter Wallace and Rebecca Anderson (Truitt) of Clarkesville, GA; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Polly Lovell was born in Habersham County on March 31, 1919. She graduated from Rabun Gap Nacoochee School in Rabun County in 1937. She attended Habersham College in Clarkesville for two years after that. Polly was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Clarkesville, GA for many years where she was always active-teaching Sunday school, leading the Junior Department for years, working faithfully with the Women's Missionary Union (WMU), and singing in the choir.

In 2010, Mrs. Wilson was named to the Tennessee Health Care Association's Who's Who in Tennessee nursing homes for her lifetime achievement. This honor was awarded in recognition for her service during World War II while her husband was in the Army Air Corp-during which time she repaired airplanes and held various other jobs in New Mexico, California and Washington.

Polly was an amazing woman and member of a generation that will be hard to replace. She lived an interesting 92 years. She fought Alzheimer's disease with a vengeance and never abandoned her sunny disposition. Her motto in life was, "Always make the best of whatever situation you found yourself in." Polly certainly lived by that credo her entire life.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of Life Care Center of Centerville who cared so lovingly for Mrs. Wilson throughout her illness.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, April 17, 2011 from the Bethlehem Baptist Church with interment to follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM
