Joann Porter

Joann Porter, 74, of Dawsonville passed away Friday April 22, 2011 at Landmark Hospital following an extended illness.

Born November 15, 1937 in Buford, Georgia to the late Milford and Lilly Thompson, she had lived in Dawson County for the past 15 years. A homemaker at her death, she was formerly employed by BellSouth. Mrs. Porter was also preceded in death by a son, William "Billy" Porter.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, William A. Porter, Sr., Dawsonville; daughter, Ruth Porter, Dawsonville; and sisters, Sue, Lillian and Sheila.

Graveside services will be held Saturday April 23, 2011 at 2 o'clock at Murrayville Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Kenneth Allison will officiate.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 until 1 at the funeral home.
