Carolyn Stephens

Carolyn Stephens, 70, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday May 12, 2011 at Northside Forsyth Hospital following an extended illness.

Born July 18, 1940 to the late Hoyt and Annie Laura Waters, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. A homemaker at her death, she was formerly employed by Universal Rubber Company and along with her husband owned and operated S & W Superette for a number of years. Carolyn attended the Dawsonville Church of God of Prophecy.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Kenneth Stephens, Dawsonville; daughters and sons in law, Marsha Hansard, Dawsonville, Tammy and Steve Watson, Dawsonville, Terri and Woody Reece, Dawsonville; sisters and brothers in law, Laura Jean and Glenn Satterfield, Gainesville, Linda and Hubert Platt, Cumming; brother and sister in law, H. B. and Dot Waters, Dawsonville; mother in law, Edna "Gamps" Stephens, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Eric Hansard, Kendric Hansard, Lori Reece; great grandchildren, Reece Odom, Skye Hansard; devoted caregiver, Shirley Jarrard; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday May 14, 2011 at 2 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Russell Burt and Rev. Jason Hamby will officiate. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Friday from 2 until 9 at the funeral home.
