Ruby Hicks Howington

Evans Funeral Home announces the death of Mrs. Ruby Hicks Howington, age 77, of Jefferson, Ga. who passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Mrs. Howington was born in Jackson County, a daughter to the late Lum and Bertha Dale Hicks. Mrs. Howington worked in the Lunchroom for the Jackson County and Jefferson City Schools and she was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Claborne, Grady, Daily and John Henry Hicks, sisters, Mae Bowles, Ernestine Griffith, Sara Marlowe, and grandchild, William Brandon Howington.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Billy Howington, Jefferson, daughter, Joyce Ann Hix, Jefferson, son, Britt Howington, Sallisaw, OK, sisters, Mary Ruth Greene, Grayson, Louise Howington, brother, James "Hank" Hicks, Tampa, FL, 6 grandchildren, Angie Beason, Kelley Hardigree, Marty Howington, Audrey Gutherie, Chad Hix, Jake Howington, 8 great grandchildren, Justin and Brittany Hardigree, Ty and Jaci Beason, Isabel and Sam Guthrie, Emma and Cheyenne Howington.

A Graveside service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 10 AM in the Jackson Memorial Park with Rev. Kevin Page officiating. Honored as pallbearers are, Chad Hix, Marty Howington, Travis Beason, Todd Hardigree, Corey Guthrie, Justin Hardigree and Ty Beason. The visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6-9pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to the Alzheimer's Association-GA Chapter, 1925 Century Blvd NE # 10, Atlanta, GA 30345-3315.
