Garnett Benjamin Grier

Garnett Benjamin Grier, age 74, of Lula, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011 at his residence.
Born in Hall County, GA on March 09, 1937, he was the son of the late Alvin and Belle Armour Grier. Mr. Grier was of the Methodist faith and was a retired industrial engineer and barber. He owned and operated Garnett's Barbershop in Lula for many years. He enjoyed gardening and tending to his fish ponds in his spare time. Mr. Grier was a dedicated husband of 50 years, and a loving Daddy and Papa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Ward; brothers, A.M., Dillard, Otis, Wiley and Van Grier.
Survivors include loving wife, Gertrude W. Grier of the home; daughter, Kim Grier-Jones of Lula; very special grandson and best friend, Jake Benjamin Grier-Jones of Lula; sisters, Geraldine Grier of Alto and Ruth Swann of Clifton Forge, VA; brothers, Junior Grier of Alto, E. D. Grier of Alto, Lemuel Grier of Newnan, and Roy Grier of Alto; three sisters-in-law, Julia W. Powell of Lula, Joyce W. Franklin of Alto, and Elizabeth W. Couch of Alto; many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Donnie Wilkes officiating. Interment will follow in Yonah Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery with Rev. Jeremy Garmon officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 pm
