Lucille Porter Chastain

Mrs. Lucille Porter Chastain, age 91, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, following a brief illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The Reverend Milton Harris will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm Saturday, June 18, 2011, two hours prior to the service.

Mrs. Chastain was born in Forsyth County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Joseph Minor Porter and Myrtie (Whitmire) Porter. She was the wife of the late Paul A. Chastain. She was a member of New Bridge Baptist Church. Mrs. Chastain was an avid gardener, a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and especially loved her dog Pandora. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Rex and Hoyt Porter; and a sister, Carrie Porter Wallace.

Mrs. Chastain is survived by her daughters, Marjorie Allen, Shirley Brisbois and Annell Chastain; son, Lonnie Chastain; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Joseph Porter, Marcus Porter and Eugene Porter; sisters, Ruby Harley and Barbara Ivey; and a number of nieces and nephews.
