Ray L. Schandera

Ray L. Schandera, 71, of Dawsonville passed away Thursday June 16, 2011 at Northside Forsyth Hospital following a period of declining health.

Born August 2, 1939 in Tallapoosa, GA to the late Lewis and Fannie Schandera, he lived in Dawson County for the past 25 years having moved from Clermont. Mr. Schandera worked in both residential and commercial construction. He was a loving father and grandfather who worked hard and lived life to the fullest every day. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lou Schandera; brother, Bobby Schandera; and sister, Betty Joyce Schandera.

Surviving are his daughters and son in law, Deborah and Marcus Crowe, Dawsonville, Angela Alexander, Newnan; sons and daughters in law, Ray Schandera, Jr., Dawsonville, Richard and Angela Schandera, Columbus, Ronald Schandera, Gainesville, Lamar and Connie Schandera, Dawsonville; sister, Linda Brewer, Tallapoosa; brother, Jimmy Schandera, Atlanta; 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; companion, Nancy Adams, Dawsonville; and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday June 18, 2011 at 11 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Scott Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow in Moss Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends Friday from 2:30 until 9 at the funeral home.
