Clarence Hopper

Funeral services for Clarence Hopper, age 88, of Toccoa, will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from the Hillside Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Robertson officiating. Interment will follow the service in Union Baptist Church Cemetery in White County with military honors provided my the Georgia Military Honors Funeral Team of Ft. Gillem, Georgia.

Mr. Hopper passed away Sunday, June 19, 2011 following an extended illness.

Born in Lumpkin County on December 27, 1922, Mr. Hopper was the son of the late Roy and Carrie Tanner Hopper. He was retired from Ethicon where he worked in the suture department and he was also a security guard. Mr. Hopper was a United States Marine Veteran having served in World War II and he was a Purple Heart Recipient. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hopper is preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Claudine Chastain Hopper.

Survivors include daughter and son in law Wanda and John Roberts of Burke, Virginia, son and daughter in law Dennis and Louise Hopper of Demorest, daughter Carolyn Moody of Clarkesville, son Roy Hopper, as well as 11 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, June 20, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
