Claudine Barden Tomlin

Claudine Barden Tomlin, age 93, of Demorest, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011 at her home following a brief illness.

Mrs Tomlin was born in Habersham County on March 18, 1918, to the late Frank G. and Annie Turpen Barden. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Daniel (Jay) Tomlin, Sr. and brother, Lee Barden.

Mrs. Tomlin was a long time member of Demorest Baptist Church. She retired after many years of service with the Demorest Elementary School. Mrs. Tomlin was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Daniel (Dan)Jr. and Susan Tomlin of Alto.

Granddaughters Juli Tomlin of Baldwin and Hollye Reeves of Cumming; great grandchildren, Clayton Martin of Baldwin and Jera Reeves of Cumming.

Sisters, Louise Morgan of Augusta, Doris Goldman of Natchez, Mississippi, Lena McGahee of Cornelia and Mary Ann Cauldell of Mt. Airy; Brothers and sisters-in-law, James and June Barden of California and Bill and Jane Barden of Cornelia, Dan Barden of Ohio. Special nieces who were like daughters to her include Emily and Jim Cornelius of Cornelia, Linda Church of Demorest, Jenny Luthi of Athens and a niece and spouse, Mary and Butch Warwick of Athens. Numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends also survive.

Funeral services are 11:00 am Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at the Demorest Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Mewborn officiating. Interment will follow in Demorest City Cemetery.
