Erma Nadine Wardlow

Obituary Date: Saturday, July 16, 2011
Erma Nadine Wardlow, 86 of Gainesville, GA died at The Oaks at Limestone on Saturday, July 16th, 2011.

Erma was one of four siblings born in Gainesville, GA to the late Bertha Edge Hall and Raiford Earl Hall. Erma worked as a telephone operator, retiring from AT&T and living in Gainesville the majority of her life. Erma was an avid pet lover with a special place in her heart reserved just for dogs. She could not stand for anything or anyone to go hungry and attracted every stray creature in the neighborhood (including sweet children clamoring for Otter Pops). Coke was her beverage of choice and it seemed the most difficult part of being diagnosed as a diabetic later in life was having to switch from Coca-Cola Classic to Diet Coke. She was never a true fan of the latter. She did not mind describing herself as a "tough old bird" and tough as in strong she certainly was. She wrestled with debilitating respiratory illnesses for 19 years before passing with the lyrics of her favorite hymn, "This World is Not My Home," in her heart.

Erma is survived by her sister Doris Hall Cain, her daughter Kathy Denise Brady and son-in law Leslie Owen Brady, her grandchildren; Lindsey Brady Gilstrap, Joshua Andrew Brady and Kayla Elise Brady, as well as, her niece Sheryl Lynn Cain and nephews Michael Leon Cain and Herbert Alvin Youngs, III. She will forever be remembered and celebrated as a source of strength during her life by not only her family, but so many others whom she touched.

In accordance with Erma's wishes, cremation was chosen and Little-Davenport Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A Memorial Service is being planned by family to be held at Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville, GA where her cremains will be interred with details for this service to be forthcoming.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Northeast Georgia to honor Granny's devotion to her four-legged friends. http://www.humanesocietyofnortheastgeorgia.org/memorial-and-tribute-programs 770-532-6617
