Mary Jo Locke Irvin

Mary Jo Locke Irvin, age 86, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2011, at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center.



Mrs. Irvin was born on September 20, 1924, in Habersham County, Georgia. She was a daughter of the late Irving Grady and Norma Tench Locke. Mrs. Irvin was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin H. Irvin; sisters, Geraldine Webb and Evelyn Irvin; and brother, Edwin Locke. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Cornelia, a former Sunday School teacher, and taught Bible School for a number of years. Mrs. Irvin was a homemaker, a loving and caring mother and grandmother.



Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Richard Wade, Cleveland, GA; son and daughter-in-law, David and Jean Irvin, Cornelia, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Charles Webb, Clarkesville, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Grady and Mildred Locke, Lula, GA; grandchildren, James Irvin, Kathy Meredith, Beth Wade, and Kristin Schupp; and great-grandchildren, Joseph and Jacob Meredith and Kaley and Emily Irvin.



Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2011, at the First Baptist Church of Cornelia with Dr. Eric Spivey and Rev. David Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Level Grove Cemetery.



The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, Georgia.
