Dennis Lamar Seymour

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Sgt. Dennis "Bugs" Lamar Seymour, 64, of Cleveland. Sgt. Seymour passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011, at his residence following a period of declining health.

Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2011, at the Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marc Turner and Rev. Adrian Niles officiating.

Born in Hall County on March 21, 1947, he was the son of the late Onnie Seymour and Opal Smith Seymour. He also was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert, James, Bobby and Donald Seymour.

A native of Hall County, he had lived in Cleveland since 1985. He retired as a sergeant with the Hall County Sheriff's Office, having 26 years of service.

Sgt. Seymour was a member of Stone Masonic Lodge No. 719 in New Holland.

Survivors include his wife, Sherrie Seymour of Cleveland; daughter, Shanda Seymour of Cleveland; son, Wayne Seymour of Oakwood; sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Ann Seymour of Cleveland, Scottie and Lisa Seymour of Oakwood, Dennis and Beka Seymour; brother-in-law, Rickey Hooper of Winder; grandchildren, Stephanie Seymour, Jessica Smith, Justin Seymour, Blake Seymour, Katie Kimbrell, Levi Seymour, Chandler Pendley, Chelsea Seymour, Courtney Seymour, Chase Seymour, Kyle Seymour, Gracie Seymour, Colton Seymour, Michael Seymour, Tyler Seymour, Trent Seymour and Bella Seymour; and 11 nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends at Alexander Funeral Home, 2721 Highway 129 South, Cleveland, from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, July 30.
