Gertrude Elizabeth Kinner Roper

Gertrude Elizabeth Kinner Roper, age 93 of Morrow, Georgia, formerly of Gainesville, passed away on Friday, July 22, 2011 at Harbor Grace Hospice Center, Atlanta, following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Summit Street, with interment to follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. Mrs. Roper will lie in state at the church on Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 12:00 noon till 1:00 pm, prior to the service. Reverend Clarence Thrower will officiate.

Mrs. Roper was born May 16, 1918 in Gainesville, Georgia to the late Joseph Kinner and Carrie Bell Thompson Kinner. She was retired from B. Mann Realty Company as a Real Estate Agent and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Oscar Roper. She was a Queen of all trades and was loved by all who knew her. Gertrude studied Beauty Culture at Apex Beauty School in Atlanta.

Mrs. Roper is survived by her daughter, Racine Elaine Williams of Atlanta, son, Oscar LeShan Roper of Atlanta, granddaughters, Niki Danielle Price of Atlanta and Bianca Morgan Roper of Austin, Texas, 3 great-grandchildren, maternal niece, Lorraine Crawford Dooley of Tuskegee, Alabama and a host of great-nieces & nephews.
