Mrs. Eunice James Humphries, age 93, of Gainesville, Georgia, formerly of Wallace, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at her residence.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm Friday, August 5, 2011 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel in Gainesville. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday, August 21, 2011 at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Gainesville.
Funeral services are scheduled for 7:00 pm Saturday, August 6, 2011 at the Church At Pinhook, Wallace, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the church with interment to be held the following day at 3:00 pm Sunday, August 7, 2011 in the James Family Cemetery. The Reverend George Price and Reverend Clarence Earl Mitchell will officiate.
Mrs. Humphries was a native of Wallace, N.C. but has lived in the Hall County area since 1957. She was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Gainesville where she served in the UMW and on several church committee's. She was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC. She was employed with Vickers Funeral Home and Memorial Park Cemetery in Gainesville. She served as director for the Gainesville Joy Center and was a regional manager for World Book Encyclopedia, Inc. for a number of years.
Mrs. Humphries was preceded in death by her parents, Rodolph James and Ida C. (Sholar) James; her husband Charles Leo Humphries; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Charlene Chapman Praytor of Gainesville, GA; and a son, Leon "Lee" (Susie) Humphries of Oxford, NC; grandchildren, Heather Chapman (Preston) Skinner, T.Keith (Katie) Chapman, Jessica Humphries (Kyle) Kelly; great-granddaughter, Alexandria Chapman; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family also survive.
