Elmer Stewart

Obituary Date: Friday, August 5, 2011
Mr. Elmer "Papa" Stewart, age 80 of Gainesville, passed away Friday, August 5, 2011 at his son's residence following a brief illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 4:00pm in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The Reverend Charles Pirkle and Reverend John Wayne Abernathy will officiate. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 6, 2011 from 6:00-9:00pm and Sunday from 11:00am until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Stewart was born September 21, 1930 in Hollywood, Georgia to the late Thomas D. and Ola Ivester Stewart. Mr. Stewart was co-owner of Stewart Egg Farm and also co-owner of Stewart Grading. He was of the Church of God Faith and was preceded in death by his brothers, Everett Stewart and Bill Stewart.

Mr. Stewart is survived by his son and daughter-n-law, Swain and Wanda Stewart of Clermont; daughter, Robin Stewart of Cleveland; mother of his children, Faye Stewart; granddaughter and husband, Tasha and Jody Stephens of Clermont; granddaughter, Melissa Nanney of Cleveland; great-grandsons, Cody and Jake Stephens and great-granddaughter, Katie Nanney; sisters, Eloise Rickman of Toccoa; Katherine Cabe of Cleveland; Betty Moore of Turnerville; Dolly Watson of Kennesaw; Alma Martin of Doraville; Helen Miller of Palmetto; brother, Hoyt Stewart of Mableton; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
