Rex Rogers

Mr. Rex Rogers, age 71, of Oakwood, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at New Horizons North in Gainesville following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Friday, August 26, 2011 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum. The Reverend Scott Strickland and Reverend Dub Jenkins will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 pm Thursday, August 25, 2011 at the funeral home.

Mr. Rogers was born May 26, 1940 in Clermont, Georgia and was the son of the late James Brady Rogers and Effie Myers Rogers. He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen Elizabeth Browning Rogers; brothers, N.L. Rogers and Guy Lee Rogers and one sister, Loutene Oliver.

Rex is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Keith Wallace of Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Tina Rogers of Flowery Branch and Rocky and Leann Rogers of Homer; grandchildren, Maranda and Bruce Hoover of Orlando, FL; Tyler Rogers, Ashley Rogers and Jordan Rogers of Flowery Branch; Braden Rogers, Walker Rogers, Cade Rogers and Anna Elizabeth Rogers all of Homer; Christina Wallace, Sharee Allen and of Gainesville; Jennifer and Nick Rice and Josh Wallace of Dahlonega; great-grandchildren, Jacob Hoover and Noah Hoover of Orlando, FL; Brady Rice and Bree Rice of Dahlonega; brother and sister-in-law, Delmer and Ruth Rogers of Cornelia; sister and brother-in-law, Myrtle and W.L. "Dub" Ravan of Lula; special friends, Harvey Smith and Benny Forrester; also surviving are a number of nieces, nephews, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
