William Kenneth "Red" Jones

William Kenneth "Red" Jones, age 90, of Sautee-Nacoochee, Georgia was welcomed into the presence of his Savior on Sunday morning, August 28, 2011.

Mr. Jones was born in Rockingham, North Carolina on December 25, 1920, to the late Dolphas C. and Kate Gibson Jones. Red, nicknamed for the color of his hair, grew up in Bassett, Virginia. He moved to Atlanta after serving four years in the United States Army during World War II. In 1946, he married Frances Elizabeth Bowman and graduated from John Marshall Law School. Red and Frances were married for 55 years. They lived in Cascade Heights and Smyrna until he retired from Southern Empire Egg Farm in 1985 when they moved to Skylake in Sautee, Georgia. Red was preceded in death by his wife, who died in 2001.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan Haynes, Dunwoody, GA and Cheryl Camp, Lawrenceville, GA; three grandchildren, Catherine Camp, Suwanee, GA, SPC Walter A. "Drew" Camp, Jr., 82nd Airborne, Ft. Bragg, NC and Emily Haynes, Boulder, CO.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, from the Yonah Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jim Holmes officiating.
