Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Dennis E. Watkins.
Dennis E. Watkins, 87, of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2011, at home. Born on March 21, 1924 in Miami, FL, he was the son of the late Dennis Watkins and Ruth Knowles. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and a Mason. He retired from Eastern Airlines, following a career as a police officer and homicide detective with the Miami Police Department. He married the love of his life, Roberta Lewis, on April 25, 1950. He was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are his wife, Roberta Watkins of Cleveland; daughter, Denise Watkins of Fort Wayne, IN; sons Dennis Watkins III of Cleveland and Dale Watkins of Minneapolis, MN; granddaughter, Dee Dee Watkins of Cleveland; sister, Margaret Schack of Cocoa, FL and brother, Gene (Janice) Knowles of Burnsville, NC. He was preceded in death by his son, Darrel Watkins; sisters, Ruby Dandridge and Elizabeth Guevara and brother, Clarence Watkins.
Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.
