Kathleen Sparks McGinnis

Mrs. Kathleen Sparks McGinnis, age 84 of Commerce passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at her residence. Mrs. McGinnis was born in Franklin County to the late, James Carl and Eunice Clementine Prickett Sparks. Mrs. McGinnis was a faithful and active member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, member of the Gideon's Auxiliary, and was a homemaker. Mrs. McGinnis was the beloved wife of 60 years to the late, Harold H. McGinnis. Mrs. McGinnis was also preceded in death by her son, John Darrell McGinnis; sisters, Sylvia Sewell and Doris Nabors; and brothers, James and Robert Sparks.

Mrs. McGinnis is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Aubry Scoggins of Commerce, Cindy and Clark Cutler of Commerce; daughter-in-law, Betty McGinnis of Dublin; brothers, Donald J. Sparks of Savannah, David R. Sparks of Hampton, and William Lee Sparks of Atlanta; grandchildren, Nick and Chad Scoggins, Sam and Ann Cutler, and Alex and Aaron McGinnis; great grandchildren, Cade and Cole Scoggins; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be Saturday at 2:00 PM from the Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Leigh Sparks Martin and Rev. Derry Oliver officiating with the interment following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Saturday from 12:30- 2:00 PM.
