Mark Allan Cartwright

Mark Allan Cartwright, age 59, passed away September 26, 2011. Beloved husband of Karen nee Rooney, loving father of Kelley and Kristen (Oliver) Marsh. Grandfather to Lorelai Elizabeth Marsh. Son of Evelyn Cartwright and the late Howard Cartwright. Brother of Tom (Stephanie), Brad (Susan), and Jeff (Sandy). Devoted uncle to Brian (Lauren), Greg, Blake, Elizabeth (Aaron), Adam, Paul, Michael, Allie and Ben.

An All-American Center for Niles West basketball team, Mark later played for the University of Maryland and was selected all conference at Bowling Green University. He concluded by competing for Duco Mestre in the Italian Professional Basketball League. For years after, Basketball remained an integral part of his life.

Martin Brower in Chicago, IL initiated him into the field of transportation. By 2001, he was named President of Smart & Final in Sacramento, CA. Mark concluded his career as an Officer of Office Depot in Delray Beach, FL.

Throughout his life, Mark valued both Travel and the Arts. Along with his family, he was able to visit all 50 States. Together he and Karen traveled to over 30 countries. At home and abroad, he could capture beauty anywhere he pointed his camera: ruins, wildlife, architecture, landscapes. His favorite pieces adorn the walls in our homes, creating a gallery of the world as only he could frame it.
