Nellie M. "Nell" Cox

Nellie M. "Nell" Cox, 89, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday November 8, 2011 at the home of her beloved daughter, Deanna.

Born July 16, 1922 to the late Gordon and Mae Moss, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. Mrs. Cox was a homemaker and member of Crossroads Baptist Church. She found the utmost joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren and her greatest gift was the love she poured out to her family, making them her focus and delight in every way.

Nell was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Wayne M. Cox; sisters, Aline Taffar, Helen Pirkle; brothers, James Moss, Gordon B. Moss, Jr.; and sons in law, Jake Mullinax and Herbert Roper.

Surviving are her children, Joe Lane and Judy Cox, Dawsonville, Joyce and Hugh Smith, Cumming, Deanna Mullinax, Cumming, Judy and Lamar Roper, Cumming, Sara Roper, Cumming, Douglas and Jane Cox, Dawsonville, Fran and Ralph Gravitt, Cumming, Greg and Kaye Cox, Dawsonville, Anita and Andrew Bearden, Dawsonville; sister, Betty Cain, Gainesville; sisters in law, Thelma Cox, Gainesville, Pat Cox, Macon; brothers in law and sister in law, Ralph Hope, Gainesville, Edward and Joyce Cox, Dawsonville; 22 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and a great great granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held Friday November 11, 2011 at 2 o'clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gerald Blackburn, Rev. Dennis Bottoms, Rev. Monroe Gunter, and Rev. Brodie Hughes will officiate. Interment will follow in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday after 6 p.m., all day Thursday and Friday until the hour of the service.
