Dewey Thurston McHan

Obituary Date: Tuesday, November 15, 2011
Dewey T. McHan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at his home. Dewey was a devout Christian who loved God and treated everyone he knew with love, trust and compassion. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. Dewey served his country in the Maritime Marines, and later worked at several dairies, and retired from the Hall County school system as a bus driver. During his retirement, he helped his community by volunteering for Meals on Wheels in Gwinnett County.

He is survived by his wife, Gaynell Allison McHan, and his three daughters and son-in-laws, Sandra and Mike Collins, Barbara and Gary Pasko, and Leisa Bruce. Also surviving Dewey are his grandchildren; Krissie, Connor, Patrick, Kaela and Alex. Gayle McHan, the wife of his late son Joseph, also survives him. The Rev. Thurman Wade will officiate with interment in Alta vista Cemetery alongside his wife, Christine, who predeceased him in 2007.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 19, 2011 in the Mason & Ward Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 am.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Friday, November 18, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
