Kathryn Wofford "Kitty" Ash

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mrs. Kathryn Wofford "Kitty" Ash, age 85 of Cleveland. Mrs. Ash passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Friday, November 18, 2011 from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Aubrey McIntyre officiating. Private interment will be held at 9:30am from Gateway Memory Park with Ftr. Scott Kidd officiating

Mrs. Ash was born in Atlanta on March 20, 1926 to the late Brad and Edith Mayfield Wofford Sr.. She is preceded in death by her husband, Neal Ash ., three brothers, Lt. Col Brad D. Wofford, Lt. Col Douglas Wofford and William Charles Wofford.

Kitty was a graduate of Gainesville High School and attended Brenau College

Kitty and Neal married in 1947, moved to Cleveland in 1950 where they lived in the same home where they raised three sons, in 1972 after a debilitating stroke, Kitty cared for Neal until his death in 1985. In 2000 she moved to an assisted living retirement facility in Gainesville. She was devoted to her husband, children and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cleveland.

She is survived by her sons and daughter in laws, Jeff and Paula Ash Sr.. of Helen; Greg" Mully" and Janet Ash of Helen; Darren and Kathryn Ash of Charlotte, North Carolina; grandchildren Jeff and Cindy Ash Jr., Nealie and Scott Weaver, Brian and Rebecca Ash, Kathryn Victoria Ash, Griffin Ash and John Ash; great grandchildren, Parks, Clancy and Brinkley Weaver as well as Charlotte Ash, Duncan Ash, Quinton Ash and Edie Ash; sister, Jane Wofford Whiten of Gainesville

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening 5 to 8 pm. Flowers will be acknowledged or memorial donations may be made to the Resurrection Pre School, 1755 Duncan Bridge Rd., Sautee, Georgia 30571 or Odyssey Hospice, 855 Gaines School Rd., Suite G, Athens, Georgia 30605
