Herschel Davis

Herschel "Doc" Davis, 98 years, 10 months and 12 days, of Mt. Airy, passed away Monday, November 28, 2011, at his residence.

Born in Stephens County on January 16, 1913, he was the son of the late Wimpy Samuel and Ellie Marie Hicks Davis.

Mr. Davis was a teacher and basketball coach for over thirty-three combined years at McEachern High School in Marietta, South Habersham High School and Habersham Central High School. He was a member and former Sunday school teacher of Hazel Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, time with family and reading the Bible. He served with the U. S. Army during World War II from December 1942
