Dwain M. "Johnny" Watt, age 79, of Dahlonega, GA, died Monday, November 28, 2011 at his residence.

"Johnny" was born in Franklin County, GA October 2, 1932. He had lived in Lumpkin County for a number of years and was a former resident of Dawson County. He was tax assessor for Dawson County for a number of years. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves.

He was the son of the late Melvin Thomas Watt and Nobie Whitworth Watt and was also preceded in death by brother, Jimmy Thomas Watt; and sister, Winnie Hugh Peltz.

He is survived by his longtime friend and companion, Eva Nell Cain, Dahlonega, GA; sons, James Riley Watt, Eastanollee, GA, Michael Bryan Watt, Dahlonega, GA; daughter, Lisa Ann Coker, Canon, GA; niece, Nancy Jackson, Holt, Florida. 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a number of other relatives also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Yahoola Baptist Church in Lumpkin County.

Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. Terry Head will officiate.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega, GA all day on Friday, December 2, 2011 starting at 11 AM.
