William Ernest Harkins

William Ernest Harkins, age 84 of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Mr. Harkins was born September 15, 1927 in Cleveland to the late James Dillard and Gertrude Eloise Palmer Harkins. He was a truck driver and a member of the local 100 Teamsters in Cincinnati, OH. Mr. Harkins was preceded in death by his son, Ernest Harkins Jr., brother, L.G. Harkins and grandson, Paul David Harkins.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Autry Harkins, Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Ann Harkins and Jimmy Metcalf, West Harrison, IN; daughter, Brenda Sue Harkins Andrews, Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Wayne and Helen Harkins, Cleveland; Michael Everett and Dolores Harkins, Cincinnati, OH; Paul Dallas and Brenda Harkins, Cincinnati, OH; sisters, Shirley Powers, Cleveland; Eloise Scott, Cleveland; Pat Black, Cleveland; Margie Dyer, Cleveland, Jean Helton, Cleveland; brothers, Hansel Harkins, Gainesville; Raymond Harkins, Maysville; 13 grandchildren a host of great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, December 24, 2011 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Guy Lee will officiate. Interment will follow in Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
