John David "Red" Wilson

Obituary Date: Friday, January 13, 2012
Mr. John David "Red" Wilson age 86, of Clermont, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family on Friday, January 13, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, January 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with internment to follow in Wauka Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The Reverend Jeff Brookshire and Reverend Lamar Purcell will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday January 14, 2012 from 7:00-9:00 pm and Sunday, January 15, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Wilson was born on June 02, 1925 in Lumpkin County to the late Homer Young Wilson and Florence Kate Anderson Wilson. Mr. Wilson was a member of Wauka Mountain Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver by trade, and a farmer at heart. He will be missed by his wife, children, and grand-children. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Gary Lamar Anderson, brothers, William "Bill" Wilson, Asbury Wilson, Rachel Lee Wilson, son-in-law, Marvin Morris.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jimmie White Wilson of Clermont, sons, Ronald D. Wilson of Gainesville and Johnny R. Wilson of Clermont, daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Ted Hagwood of Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Albert Anderson of Gainesville, daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Harrison Kinney of Clermont, daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Mike Wiley of Lula, grandchildren, 5 grandsons, and 6 grand-daughters, 10 great-grandchildren, brothers, Edward Wilson of Murrayville, Ranzy Wilson of Clermont, Gene Wilson of Clermont, Junior Wilson of Clermont, Jack Wilson of Gainesville, Clyde Wilson of Murrayville, sister, Ruth Carder of Murrayville, and a host of other relatives.

A special Thank You to Lori Brooks, Mary Jo Hitt, Jeff Brookshire of Compassionate Hospice, and to our many friends and relatives who have stayed by our family.
